Background to need to diet
Hello Dear Reader,
Well it seems that 6 months without a challenge walk has led to a sedentary lifestyle and the piling on of pounds in weight.
I was looking at photos a month ago and was disgusted with what i saw to be frank. I went out and got some proper scales and discovered I weighed in a 15 stones and 7 lbs. This took me into the morbidly obese category, and in danger of a heart attack or stroke.
Action had to be taken!
I started a diet 3 weeks ago, which was just a calorie counting exercise. I have now banned the following from my vocabulary:
1. Sugar
2. Bread
3. Butter / Margarine
4. Peanut butter
5. Sweets
6. Crisps
7. Nuts
8. Alcohol !!!!!
Yes folks, I am now tee-total and peanut butter free!
I had to draw the line when I noticed I would eat an entire bag of mixed salted nuts (1,200 calories) before a massive dinner and pudding possibly topping a further 1,200 calories) meaning in one sitting, I was exceeding my entire daily intake of 2,400 calories. Then I would possibly eat an entire bag to sweets before bedtime. I was in danger of giving myself black eyes when running for the bus!
Now my diet consists of:
Breakfast
1 x Weetabix
100 ml semi-skimmed milk
Grapes or Melon, or Pear
Black tea
Lunch
2 x Ryvita
Cottage cheese
Small pot of fruit (fresh Pineapple, or melon, or apple)
Dinner
Homemade Soup (½ bowl)
Fish or simple meat dish
Tons of vegetables
Low fat yoghurt (if I have not has soup to start)
The results have so far been pretty good. In 3 weeks, I had lost 16 lbs or 1 stone and 2 lbs. The aim is to get down to 13 stone before my Mum's 80th birthday gathering over Easter weekend. That would be a loss of 2½ stones.
